It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved great-grandfather, Alfred Hurd, at the age of 97, on February 20th, 2025 in Lawrenceburg, IN.
Al, also known as ‘Big Al,’ was born on January 3rd, 1928 in Manchester, KY to Owen and Otha Herd. He lived a full and remarkable life, devoted to his family, neighbors, and his work. He was a Manager for the Cincinnati Transit for many years, and his passion for golf, cooking, fishing, and cutting grass brought joy to those around him.
He was predeceased by his wife- Zelma Hurd, brother- Walker Hurd, sisters- Martha Bowling, Lucille Gilbert, Mary Baker, Irene Spurlock, and is survived by his son- Darrell Hurd (Diane Hurd), grandchildren- Tonya Marsee (Mark Marsee), and Nicole Hurd (Bryan Scott), great-grandchildren- Cody Marsee (Kayla McCarthy) and Tatijana Narwold (Tony Narwold), and great-great-grandchildren- Larkin Marsee, Camden Marsee, Jameson Marsee, and Xander Narwold. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, who cherished his wisdom and the unwavering love he offered to all.
Throughout his life, Al was known for his devotion for taking care his wife for whom he was married to for 63 years, his faith as a member at Delhi Christian Center, sharing his love for golf with his son and grandchildren, his landscaping including his beautiful grass trim lines and rose bushes, his pet friend- Otis, and of course sharing all his homemade dishes with his neighbors and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 24th from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM followed by a 1:00 PM memorial service all taking place at Dalbert, Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home at 2880 Boudinot Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45238, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and share memories of a man who meant so much to us all. Please note, in lieu of a traditional funeral meal following the service, the family has chosen to hold a Celebration of Life at a later date on the family farm.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
