PORTUNE,
Alice L. (nee Hausfeld) , Educator, Homemaker, Explorer and Friend, loving wife of the late Dr. Robert G. Portune, beloved mother of Robert "Robin" G. II, Todd Brian and Ned Jonathan (Lisa), survived by eleven grandchildren. Graduated Western Hills High School, 1943. Graduated University of Cincinnati, 1947. Mathematics Teacher at Withrow High School. Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati State and NKU. Illustrator of Cincinnati Power Basketball by Ed Jucker. To the very last, Alice was fueled by an insatiable curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. She was a voracious reader and writer, and steeped herself in history, natural science, politics and world events. Fiercely independent, Alice traveled the world and made fast friends wherever her feet took her. With a determination to live life on her own terms, she undertook her final journey with the same sense of courage and wonder. Saturday, January 9, 2010. Age 84 years.
