Amoret Butler

Amoret Simpson Butler passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at the age of 86. She was born in Acme, NC. She taught English at all levels grades five through twelve in her thirty-five years in the schools of North Carolina, Maryland, and Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati. She earned degrees from Guilford College and Duke University in NC as well as post Master's work at the University of Cincinnati and Miami University. She published six books, including poetry, family histories, fiction and a travel handbook. When she moved to Cincinnati in 1963, she took a brief hiatus from teaching to work for Max Rudolf at the CSO. She is survived by her nieces in Cincinnati, Jane Butler Rupp, Susan Butler McBeath and their families. In North Carolina she is survived by her sister Mary Butler Flynn and many nieces and nephews. She was a loyal member of the Order of the Eastern Star in North Carolina and the Ohio chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. Burial will take place at the Goshen Baptist Church in Leland, NC. Memorials may be made to Westwood First Presbyterian Church and Hospice of Cincinnati.
