Audrie Green Gifford, Educator, Patriot. Her passion for teaching lasted almost 30 years in the Cincinnati School System. She thought nothing was more important than the successful education of a child. Her ancestors paved the way for her devotion to her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the Regent of the Cincinnati Chapter of DAR. She is survived by her husband, Jack, who she met in 1943 and married in 1948; two children, Michael Gifford of Cincinnati, OH, and Dr. John Gifford of Akron, OH; two grandchildren, Michelle, a teacher, and Ryan, a pre-med student at Miami University, Oxford, OH; a brother, Kenneth of Hollywood, FL; a sister, Joyce of Miami, FL, and three nieces, Linda of Miami, FL, Lisa of Atlanta, GA, and Karen Middleton of Cincinnati, OH. Audrie was also an active member of University of North Carolina Alumni Assn., the Daughters of the Confederacy, the Westwood Women's Club, Cincinnati Club Sip and Slipper Dance Club, Maketewah Country Club and was also an honorary Kentucky Colonel. Tuesday, March 4, 2003. Age 76 years.
