Carolyn Zimmer (nee Ahlstrom) died April 26, 2013 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was 91 years old.
Carolyn was born August 1, 1921 in Jamestown, New York. She married James Ellsworth Zimmer of Cincinnati Ohio. He died in 1968
She is survived by her three children: Jim of San Jose, California (and his wife Susan) and her grandson, Jeffrey and his wife Joyce Leary and Carolyn's great granddaughter Lauren, 10 months old; Thomas of Queensland, Australia, and Jill of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is also survived by her nephew John Ahlstrom and his wife Barb of Lockport, New York and their children John and Carolyn.
She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1939 and graduated from nursing school at Deaconess Hospital, Buffalo. After her husband Jim died, she worked as an operating-room nurse at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. After retiring from nursing, she did volunteer work at the Hoxworth Blood Center. She was an avid golfer and played at Woodland and Hidden Valley courses. She was a member of the Saint Peter and Saint Paul United Church of Christ on Queen City Avenue and enjoyed her friends in Matrimates.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hoxworth Blood Center.
