Helen M. Bartley

Helen Bartley was born on May 19, 1923 in Granger, Iowa to Omar & Maude Marshall. Helen died on May 10, 2013 in Dayton, Ohio. Through the intervening years since her birth, she had a life of enriching experiences; happiness, inspiration, love and sadness. Helen was an actively involved, 70 year member of Belmont United Methodist Church. She was a 63 year member of Belmont Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and had served in various capacities including the Presiding Officer of the State of Ohio in 1968 and 1972. Helen appreciated the opportunity to volunteer at Kettering Medical Center for a number of years. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her son David M. Bartley, husband Thomas L. Bartley and her sister Orena M. Haynes. Helen is survived by her grandchildren, Michelle B. (Kevin) McGovern and Marshall A. Bartley; her great-grandchildren Morgan Bartley, Elizabeth & Matthew McGovern, great-grandchild Ryan (Kayt) McGovern and great- great grandson James Tucker McGovern. Helen is also survived by her three brothers; Lee (Ramona) Marshall, Dean Marshall and Wayne Marshall, who added much that is good to her life. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews and treasured friends. Visitation will be Wednesday May 15, from 12 Noon until time of funeral service at 2 PM at Belmont United Methodist Church 2701 S. Smithville Rd. Dayton, OH 45420, conducted by Dr. Randy Coleman. The family requests memorials may be given to the Belmont UMC Endowment Fund.
