Herschell H. died on September 20, 2010 at the age of 85. His wife of 63 years, Lavern, preceded him in death. He has resided in Western Hills area of Cincinnati for 50 years before moving to Alexandria KY in 2004. He joined the United States Navy at age 17 in 1943 and retired from the Reserves at age 60 as a Chief Petty Officer 3rd Class. After serving in World War Two's European theater of operations including the Normandy Invasion on D-Day , he joined the Cincinnati Police Department and retired as a Lieutenant in 1977 . He was a 32nd degree Master Mason for over 60 years. He was a member of St. Peter and St. Paul United Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting, travelling around the world , and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed meeting and sharing life stories with everyone he met. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him. Mr. Hall is survived by his daughter, Monna Steinhard, son-in-law, ( Bernard ) Scott Steinhard, and grandchildren Justin Steinhard (wife Marina) and Nadine Williams (husband Jake). Visitation 2 PM Sunday at St. Peter and St. Paul United Church of Christ, 3001 Queen City Ave., 45238. With F.O.P. Service at 3:30 PM followed by F&AM Kilwinning Lodge #356 and Scottish Rite Services. Funeral Service to Follow at 4 PM.
