James Kenneth Murrell

James Kenneth Murrell, 89, a longtime resident of Purcell, OK, and more recently Cincinnati, OH, died Thursday, February 12, 2015, after a long illness.  Born in Purcell, OK, on February 28, 1925, he was raised in the Johnson Community and graduated from Purcell High School in 1942.  Kenneth was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1946, in the 5th Fighter Command of the Army Air Corps. and was a life member of the VFW Post #1254 of Arkansas City, KS.  He worked most of his life as a General Motors Master Mechanic in Arkansas City, Purcell, and Norman, as well as General Electric in Winfield, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Knox and Alma Murrell, two sisters: Mary Nell Glasco and Betty Richerson, a son: Kenneth P. Murrell, and his wife of 52 years, Mary Carolyn Abrams.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Michael) Rawlings, of Cincinnati, three grandchildren: Jason Judd of Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer Rawlings and Christopher Rawlings, both of Cincinnati.  Two great- grandchildren: Brenton Judd and Katelyn Judd. Also surviving is his brother, Buddy Murrell, of Cherokee, OK, and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

A memorial service will be held in Purcell at a future date.
