James “Jim” Papas, 97 of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Cincinnati, OH passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. He was born on April 23, 1924 in Nestorio, Kastoria, Greece. James served in the Greek Army during World War II. He immigrated to the United States in 1955 becoming a naturalized US citizen. James met his future bride, Demetra in Nestorio, Greece and was married for 62 years. James started his career as a tailor with Rubel Squire Tailoring for 10 years and later worked for Brooks Brothers for over 30 years both in downtown Cincinnati prior to retiring. James was a member of Holy Trinity – St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Cincinnati. James was predeceased by his father Christos Papageorgiou, mother Eleni (Pagiou) Papageorgiou, brothers, George, Thomas and sisters, Martha and Alexandra. James is survived by his loving wife, Demetra (Pagiou) Papas, daughters Helen (Angelo) Papas-Kostarides, Kathy (Michael) Papas-Attia and granddaughters, Alexandra and Nicolette Attia. Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Holy Trinity – St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 7000 Winton Road, Cincinnati, OH with one hour calling starting at 11 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity – St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, a Hospice center of your choice or the Kidney Foundation.
