Jean Harriet Ackley

Passed peacefully on June 4, 2015, 5 days after her 90th birthday.  Jean and her twin, Jane, were born to Wesley and Alberta Ackley on May 29, 1925.  Jean was raised in Cincinnati, graduated from The Christ Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 and completed training at Cincinnati General Hospital as a  Certified Nurse Anesthetist in 1954.  She spent her career working at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.  Following her retirement in 1986, she was a volunteer at the Nathaniel Mission Health Clinic in Lexington where she was nominated as one of Lexington’s Outstanding Volunteers in 1997.   Jean relocated to Cincinnati in 2010.  Jean did beautiful handcrafted needlework, and was an avid bridge player up to a few weeks prior to her death. 

Jean is survived by a loving family; her twin, Jane H. Henninger of Louisville, Ky. and  sister, Marian R. Ackley of Delhi, Ohio.  She was pre-deceased by a sister, Marlene Gabbard Curren.   She was a loving and much loved aunt to Linda Wigton (Roger) of Fairfax Station, VA., Kathleen Gerberick of Cincinnati, OH. John  Gabbard (Sylvia) of Jacksonville, FLA., Timothy  Henninger (Jennie) of  Louisville , KY., and Julie Gabbard Klug (James) of Cincinnati, OH.  She was pre-deceased by a nephew Gary C. Henninger.

She is also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews and 8 great-great nieces and nephews.  She will be dearly missed by all.  

Family will receive friends on Saturday June 13 at 10:00 am at Dalbert, Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home,  2880 Boudinot  Avenue, Cincinnati, 45238 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.   Private burial to follow.  If desired, donations may be made in her honor to the Christ College of Nursing, 2139 Auburn Ave.  Cincinnati, Ohio  45219.
