John Cleveland Waggoner,66, passed away peacefully in his sleep December 26, 2020. John was the loving husband of Kathleen Nemann for 27 years. He is survived by his wife and his sister Tillie (John) Biery. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Betty Waggoner and brothers Rick and Art Waggoner.
His family expanded when he married Kathy and he was blessed with her children Julie Faust, Patty (Apolonio) Garcia, and Peter (Aimee) Nemann as his own and soon embraced being a devoted grandpa to Madelyn, Allison, and Kate Nemann; Tom and Max Faust, Clare and Apolonio Garcia; he was Grandpa John, a role he relished with enthusiasm, it was what he lived for. Although John did not have children of his own, he loved his niece Missi (Kevin) Arey, and nephews Mike (Tammy) Waggoner, and John (Erica) Biery Jr. John was a very special great uncle to Mackenzie, Gena, Natalie, and Gabe Waggoner; Hannah and Elana Arey; Evelyn, Eliza, and Lucy Biery; beloved brother-in-law of Joan (Mac) Mcgranahan; dear uncle of Sean (Robi) McGranahan.
John was an avid traveler. He was very proud of the fact that he and Kathy spent at least one night in each of the fifty states. He taught for over 30 years in Cincinnati Public Schools, the last 20 years at Walnut Hills High School. John leaves many friends from CPS, especially from Walnut Hills, where he was a valued member of the Social Studies department. John was also an active member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Zeta Psi chapter, where he made scores of lifelong friends. He was especially devoted to his special granddaughter, Allison Nemann. John participated in her care and cheerfully supported all of her caregivers. John Waggoner was a very special man; he appreciated the preciousness of ordinary days. John made all who interacted with him feel heard and respected. He will be sorely missed.
