JONES
Kennedy Jr. "Kenny," beloved husband of Lillie "Lil" Jones (nee Lawson, loving father of Donald (Coleen) and Calvin (Beth) Jones, cherished grandfather of five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, son of the late Kennedy and Irene (Hicks) Jones, dear brother of Lee Jones Prem and the late Donald Jones, also survived by nephews, nieces, family and many friends. Kennedy was grateful for the love of his family and friends. He Loved birds, nature and music, especially jazz and bluegrass. He was a humble man who never forgot his beginnings and never tired of telling anyone who would listen about his father's creation of the thumbpick style of guitar playing. He was in awe of his grandmother, Alice, whom he remembered playing the guitar, violin, banjo and mandolin when he was 6 years old. He knew what was important in life and loved his God and had his priorities in order. His musical career began in Chicago in the early forties when he began playing in his Dad's band along with his brother, Don. He later recorded as a sideman on several record labels including Decca, Capitol, MGM, RCA and King Records. He was a staff guitarist with the Hayriders on the Midwestern Hayride in the mid 50's and was guitarist with the Melody Mountain Boys on WZIP and also performed on WNOP. A World War II veteran, Mr. Jones died on August 12, 2008, at age 81. Visitation Monday August 18 from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 Noon at St. John's Westminster Union Church, (Delhi).
