Michael Merk, 53, passed away on February 12, 2025, in Harrison, OH.
Michael was born on October 27, 1971, in Cincinnati, OH to Gerald and Anita Merk. He grew up the youngest of 13 children. Michael graduated from Oak Hills High School in 1990. He started his career as a heating and air conditioning specialist and eventually went on to be a part owner of EQS Mechanical. Michael and Tammi wed on June 8, 2002, in West Harrison, IN. Michael was a friend to all. He would help anyone in need. He was the type of person that the moment you met him, you were part of his family. Michael was a man of his word. When he was diagnosed with stage four cholangiocarcinoma and given just a few months to live, he insisted he would prove the doctors wrong. He battled that awful disease and lived life to the fullest every single day with a positive attitude for almost three years. During that time, he was able to go on six cruises. He was able to watch his youngest son get married in August. He attended many sporting events for his grandchildren. He enjoyed many activities like fishing, doing puzzles, reading, watching sports, playing board games, and being surrounded by family & friends.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Tammi (Blersch) Merk; three children, Jordan Merk, Jasmine (Josh) Gold, and Marshall (Madison) Merk; four grandchildren, Lilly, Caleb, Cameron and Tanner; siblings Sparky (Sally) Merk, Joe (Shelagh) Merk, John (Teresa) Merk, Tom (Amy) Merk, Bill (Nancy) Merk, Lenora (Gerry) DeMarco, Rick (Lynne) Merk, Perry (Donna) Merk, Ed (Amy) Merk, Louise (Richard) Raines, Andrea (Rich) McAllister, Tim (Jen) Merk; in-laws Sandra (Ken) Busch, Todd (Tania) Blersch, Terri (Boone) Murray, and Traci (Tim) Amend; and many nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Merk; mother, Anita (Perry) Merk; father-in-law, Warend Blersch; and nephew, Tony Merk.
