Schulz, Nancy Jane (nee Drake) Some might say it was an infection introduced through her pacemaker that finally did her in, but others know the truth: it was her mob ties; they can make anything look like an accident! Mom, a woman who cried when she first heard her grandchild laugh; once made chili con carne with chocolate chips (that’s right, chocolate chips); and crafted ice cubes with miniature, plastic babies in the center for her daughter’s first birthday, then watched in horror as those same babies floated upside down in the punch bowl when the cubes melted…peacefully passed on Friday, April 28, 2017. She was the treasured wife, best friend and all time accomplice of Brett Alan Schulz, Sr for nearly 24 of the best years of her life. Donnie Ann York and Virginia “Ginger” York-Cohen (Nathaniel) and the late (and most brilliant) Mari H. York all had the privilege of being her children, benefiting from her unconditional love, guidance, and check book (oh mom, how we’re gonna miss you!). She was also unyielding in her adoration of many spoiled grandchildren (her reward for not having killed her kids): Amanda “Mandy” Curington, David “Davey” Cohen, and TJ, Marie, Kevin and Drake Bremner. She was a cherished sister to James “Jim” Drake (Theresa), Robert Drake (the late Beverly), Joyce Wells (Ralph) and Richard Drake (Shonda). She is survived by many loved nieces and nephews as well as cousins, including Judy “Cuz” Merrill (Robby) with whom she conspired in mischief many a shenanigan (and no, they still haven’t found those bodies). She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Denver and Virginia Drake, as well as her gallbladder. She was a fearless, fun-loving dreamer, who enjoyed fall leaves, laughter and the ocean breeze. A child of God, humble and kind, she never wavered from her faith, believing that with God all things are possible, and proving that with love, prayer and her perfect crooked smile, the world can be a better place.
