Philip H. Kahler

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well- lived we announce the passing of Philip H. Kahler, born on September 11, 1928, in Buffalo, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 16, 2025, at the age of 96. He was a devoted father of Deanna Bowden (Bryan) and cherished grandfather of Olivia and Brady.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Rose Marie Alice Kahler (nee Brady) as well as his parents Rollin E. and Elsie May Kahler and brother Kenneth Kahler. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Phil served in the United States Navy as an electrician. Shortly after his discharge he relocated to Warren, Michigan to pursue his schooling. While working at General Electric, he met the love of his life, Rose Marie. In 1972, he moved the family to Columbus, Ohio to continue working for GE using his Industrial Engineering degree. He retired from GE after 38 years. His love of hard work and people led him to not only volunteer in the community, but also work at Macy’s for 15 years, in both Columbus and Sarasota, Florida where he moved in 1999. While in Florida he spent many hours on the golf course and enjoyed activities with family and friends. In 2015, he moved to Cincinnati to be near family. He spent 9 years at Twin Towers Senior Living Community, where he made many friends. He stayed busy volunteering, painting, drawing, playing bridge and golfing.

Phil was a devoted family man who will always be known for the positive example he set for all, his love of learning and the ability to put what he learned to use to help others.
