Vincent (V.) JAMES, DeFranco MD. Retired Pediatrician, Family Practitioner, 84 Peacefully entered back into his loving wife's arm's again and God's hands on May 10, 2013 while surrounded by his children. He is Predeceased by 10 months to his devoted wife of 59 years, Donna Lee Lundy DeFranco. He is survived by 5 Loving Children. James (Donna), Michael (Jo), Donald (Paul), Christopher (Chris) and Dorie (Brian) DeFranco-Spinner. Brother of Samuel de Franco MD, Cecilia Amato, RoseMarie Simera, all of California. Predeceased by his parents William and Josephine DeFranco, brothers Joseph and Frank DeFranco, sisters Mary Carosiello, Helen Monaco, and Mildred Monaco. Adored by 8 Loving Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dr. De Franco was born in Weirton, West Virginia. While attending Catholic Central High School in Steubenville, Ohio he was awarded a scholarship for Football to Xavier University where he received All-American Football Stature, Musketeer Legion of Honour, '49 End. Graduate of St. Louis University Medical School, He served his internship and residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, specializing in Pediatrics. After serving as Chief of Pediatrics in the Alaskan Air Command, USAF Hospital, Anchorage, Alaska. Dr. DeFranco moved into private practice in the Western Hills and Sayler Park areas of Cincinnati. He Founded the Non Smokers Institute of America for which his efforts were recognized and as such inducted into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels by the Governor of Kentucky. Dr. Jim's community service as Medical Director for the Mt. Alverno School for boys, one of his proudest accomplishments. He retired early in 1977 to La Jolla, California and returned later in life to the Tri State Area, with focus on private Research and Development. His love for his Family, Profession and community service were the great joys of his life. Mass of Christian Burial, on Saturday May 18th, 10:30 AM at St. Aloysius- On-The-Ohio Church, 6207 Portage, Cincinnati OH 45233.
