Vincent W. Lambers
Born in Cincinnati to Alice Mildred and William Charles Lambers, Vincent grew up in the Great Depression along with his younger brother Ken. Vince became a lifelong Reds fan at an early age and even attended Johnny Vander Meer's no hitter in 1938 against the Boston Braves.
A graduate of Roger Bacon High School in 1943, Vince enlisted in the Army and served during World War II. He received a Purple Heart after being injured by a mine explosion while sweeping Omaha Beach following the Allied landings in German occupied Europe.
After the war Vince attended the University of Cincinnati on the GI Bill to get an accounting degree. He also earned an MBA from Xavier University. Studying accounting led Vince to a career that would change his life. He worked as an auditor for the IRS and eventually earned his CPA. While working in Washington DC he met Mary Iglehart, who became his wife of 46 years until her passing on July 22nd, 2012.
Working together they started a business in Massachusetts during 1966 called Lambers CPA Review, to help students prepare for the Certified Public Accountants exam.
Vincent worked long hours teaching classes in the Boston area, and the business became so successful there it went nationwide. Hundreds of thousands of students have passed the CPA Exam using the course books, videos and live lectures.
Vince enjoyed golf, baseball and movies including the Sound of Music.
