Zelma Hurd

Hurd, Zelma (nee Hensley) was born Feb. 17, 1926. She was a loving wife to Alfred Hurd for 63 years. Loving mother of Darrell Hurd. Mother-in-law of Diane Hurd. Amazing grandma to Tonya Marsee (Mark) and Nicole Hurd (Bryan Scott). Caring great grandma to Cody and Tatijana Marsee. Zelma is survived by a sister, Mae Martin (deceased Matt), sister Anice Greer (deceased James), Brother Sam Hensley (Lois), brother Joe Hensley (Zella), sister Marge Renner (deceased RD), brother Logan Hensley (Mathilde), brother Jonah Hensley (deceased Louise), sister Janet Sawyers (Billy), brother James Hensley (Peggy) and sister Bonnie Hendrix (deceased Floyd) Elmer and Gertrude Hensley (deceased) and many other loving family members and friends.

Zelma grew up in the mountains of Ky. Raised by wonderful loving, God believing, praying parents with 11 bothers and sisters. They worked hard growing up and I am sure that made her the strong giving woman she was. Her home was full of love and the closeness continued with her family until the day she went to be with the Lord. Zelma loved her family and the Lord and her greastest joy was both. She loved spending time with her family and lived for her time at Possum Trot and the reunions with her family. Zelma loved her son and would always put his needs and desires before her own. You never heard Zelma complain about any pain or limitation she might have because of her health. She just accepted it with the peace that she knew from her faith. Zelma was a blessing to those of us in her family and anyone who might have come to know her. She was a rolemodel to so many and though those of us left behind will mourn for her passing, we will rejoice knowing that she has a whole new body and is singing and praising the Lord now the way she always wanted to. Everytime we hear the Gathiers sing or listen to a good old gospel song we will remember how she loved the Lord and we will be better people because of it.

Dear Zelma,"Go Rest High On that Mountain" and we will see you again because you have shown us your faith how to live. We love and miss you always. Zelma passed away on Sept 14 at the age of 84. Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm Thursday at Dalbert, Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home 2880 Boudinot Ave. Cincinnat, Ohio 45238.
